Local officials are warning residents to beware of a lottery scam.
A fraudulent “Final Award Notification” document recently was received by a Gloucester resident, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
The document, from “The Mega Million Lottery Draw/Prize Award Department,” states the winner was selected from a worldwide ballot system. The “Lucky Winner” is informed that there was a mixup with a previous drawing, and the new winner was approved for a lump sum.
The “Lucky Winner” is instructed to call a foreign service manager to claim the $4.5 million prize. The letter is stamped “US Government Approved.”
